Post-traumatic stress disorder shortly is known clinically as PTSD.When a person witnesses, goes through or experiences an adverse, unwanted or traumatic experience. Whatever it might be exposed to actual or threatened death, serious injury or sexual violence through
- Direct exposure to the traumatic event.
- Learning traumatic events to close or family members about any accident or violent event.
- Experiencing repeated or extreme exposure to traumatic events. There remain some symptoms regarding
- Intrusion-associated traumatic event. The dissociated reaction such as nightmare, flashback, etc
- Persists the avoidance of traumatic events. Avoid the person, places, object relating to a traumatic event. Arousing distressing feelings, memories, thoughts associated with a traumatic event.
- Negative Cognition and Mood Distortion.Persistent and distorted cognitions about a traumatic event. Arousing negative beliefs or expectations about oneself or others.
- Physical and emotional symptoms.Hyper-vigilant, having self-destructive activities, proper concentration problem, sleep disturbance, anger outburst and so on.And these symptoms remain for more than one month. These symptoms as impairment and distress hamper in social, occupational or other life functioning.
- The survivors of PTSD who are taken as self-care, maintain extra hygiene, support system and resources, able to back with resilience.
Some mental health supportive care, as trauma therapy, is provided in psychotherapy, Bangladesh. At the first time they can’t forgive others, let go and move on. With the process, day by day survivors can able to bounce back more spontaneously.
