Breastfeeding Journey of a Mother

Let’s hear the breastfeeding journey of a Mother!!!
……………………………………………………………………
August 1-August 7 is World Breastfeeding Week and today I want to share my breastfeeding
journey.
My bub was born at only 35 weeks and the first 5 months of his life he was unable to breastfeed
on his own. I was a stay at home mum and I became an exclusively pumping mama. I pumped
around the clock (8-9 times a day) to feed my baby. I would even wake up in the middle of the
night to pump and maintain the regime. It was amazing how well he thrived on my pumped milk,
even though I was a borderline under supplier!
However, I never realized what you feed your baby/how you feed your baby would face so much
judgment from people till I actually experienced it. For instance, I was advised to keep him
hungry (read starve him) till he’s forced to latch for a feed. I turned a blind eye to those
ridiculous advice and channeled what I believed was right for us.
To all new moms, please remember that everyone has a unique journey and please embrace
yours, please do what you feel is best for you and your baby. While making the decision please
think about yourself too, because your well-being directly relates to your baby. Fed is best – be it
breastmilk or formula.
