Chevening Scholarship is the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organizations. The programme offers awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential worldwide to study for a master’s degree in any subject at any UK university.

Course duration: Full-time Masters Degree Programme lasting up to 1 year
Scholarship inclusions:
- Full payment of Masters tuition fees
- Payment of visa application fee
- Monthly living allowances
- Travel costs to and from the UK
- Additional grants and subsidies to cover essential expenses.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, one must-
- Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an offer letter from one of these choices by 14 July 2022.
- Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
- Return to Bangladesh for a minimum of two years after the scholarship period has ended.
English language proficiency test:
There is no need to submit an English language proficiency score (such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, etc.) for Chevening scholarship applications. However, certain UK universities may demand it as part of the application process.

Usually, applicants need to answer a series of short essay questions with a 500-word limit. These questions typically focus on leadership and networking skills and the reasoning behind the choice of Masters’s courses and career plans. Information regarding previous work experiences is also required.
After being shortlisted, candidates are invited for an interview.
Essay tips:
The application requires four essays (within 500 words) on topics such as-
- Leadership and Influence:
Chevening seeks individuals who have the potential to become future leaders or influencers in their native countries. The leadership examples could be from school, university, or the w workplace. Explain your response by offering specific examples.
- Networking:
Here the candidates should emphasize showcasing efficient networking (how they are/were involved with diverse people/organizations) through 1/2 concrete examples. The essay should demonstrate that you are a team player and have engaged stakeholders in identifying and resolving a societal problem.
- The reason behind studying in the UK and three-course choices : Aspirants should describe a specific project/goal and how a certain course or university will assist them in the long run. Each university should have its own paragraph (i.e. a total of three paragraphs). The final paragraph should highlight how becoming a Chevening Scholar will assist you in reaching your stated objective.
- Career plan : This question requires applicants to outline their plans after completing their studies in UK. The emphasis should be on explaining detailed short/medium/long term career goals in this section.
