Being a recommender means a commitment of time and energy. It has to be understood that the recommender selflessly reserves a part of his/her busy schedule to provide a recommendation. Hence, a little gratitude goes a long way! Here are some ways for thanking the recommender:
- Start by sending out a personalized note or email appreciating the recommender for his/her act of kindness.
- A thank you letter within 24 hours after a positive interview should contain several points like greetings and recognition of the vital role played by the recommender.
- Inform the recommender about the results of the interview
- Stay connected with your recommender via LinkedIn or other online platforms.
- Keep on updating the recommender about major career and personal life milestones.
- Remind the recommender about them playing a major role in your professional growth and enhancing your knowledge.
- Always support the recommender when volunteer work or any other tasks are assigned. Being gracious and respectful towards the recommender will incline him/her into writing a second recommendation letter if needed.
